CONSTRUCTION IN BULGARIA'S BANSKO RESORT LIMITED
Mon 06 Mar 2006
Construction works in Bansko winter resort will be limited, Dnevnik newspaper reported.
The city will be divided into construction and holiday sectors. Only two and three-storey high buildings will be constructed from now on. The city council approved the new regulations that Bansko mayor Aleksander Kravarov proposed.
New regulations are needed as the capacity of the Bansko’s infrastructure is depleted. Investor interest is significant, yet the city cannot expand indefinitely, Kravarov said. All investors should know they will be responsible for creating infrastructure and should not depend on the municipality, said he.
Since the beginning of the year 25 construction permits have been issued. Most of them involve the creation of apartment complexes. Bansko’s administration is examining additional 300 permit requests.
Bansko’s construction programme envisions the investment of 18 million leva in infrastructure by 2007. Nearly 15 million leva will be used for highways and sewage systems. The other three million leva will be used for school and kindergarten repairs.
